About the Role
Are you a detail-driven finance professional who thrives on turning numbers into meaningful insight? We’re looking for a Management Accountant. The individual is responsible for preparing accurate and timely management accounts, financial reports, and analysis to support internal reporting and decision-making. The role supports maintaining financial controls, monitoring performance against budgets, and ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day finance activities. This includes contributing to month-end close, variance analysis, and other financial processes as required.
📍 Poole, UK (Hybrid – 2 days in office)
Responsibilities:
· Prepare and contribute to the delivery of monthly management accounts packs across all legal entities, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely submission.
· Calculate, post, and reconcile deferred and accrued income by customer, product, and line of business in line with revenue recognition principles.
· Ensure all operating costs are accurately allocated by department, cost centre, and line of business, applying appropriate accruals and prepayments to reflect the correct reporting period.
· Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Asset Register for all entities, including depreciation calculations and asset lifecycle tracking.
· Reconcile and monitor intercompany loan and trading accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolution of discrepancies on a monthly basis.
· Perform monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations, presenting findings and resolution plans during formal reviews with the Financial Controller.
· Produce and analyse daily, weekly, and monthly cash reports, supporting short-term cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.
· Ensure timely submission of reports to the National Statistics Office and other external regulatory bodies in accordance with statutory deadlines.
· Support the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements.
· Assist with the coordination and delivery of year-end audit requirements, liaising with external auditors and contributing to statutory reporting.
· Provide ad hoc financial analysis, reporting, and support to the wider Finance team as required to support business operations and decision-making.
About Your Experience
· Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACA) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar management accounting role.
· Proven track record of preparing management accounts, journal postings, accruals/prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
· Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards, with experience supporting audits and statutory reporting cycles.
· Experience using ERP systems is essential; prior knowledge of SAP Business ByDesign or S/4HANA is highly advantageous.
· Advanced Excel skills, including working with large datasets, pivot tables, and complex formulas for financial analysis and reporting.
· Strong systems literacy and process-oriented mindset, with the ability to identify and implement efficiencies in financial processes.
· Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and a methodical approach to work, particularly under tight deadlines.
· Self-starter with a “can-do” attitude and strong ownership of responsibilities, able to manage competing priorities effectively.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building collaborative relationships across finance and non-finance teams.
· Demonstrates persistence and drive to see tasks through to completion with high standards of delivery (“completer-finisher” mindset).
